Telling People About Jesus

October 19, 2017 By //  by Steve Blake

A long-time partner of Liberty reminds me faithfully to “Go and tell people about Jesus”. And this is our constant desire! With the telling comes further scriptural encouragement to make disciples, to strengthen the churches, and to help those in need. And so, we continue in our mandate to be a WORD and DEED ministry. Last month and earlier this month, we hosted major evangelistic outreaches in Port Vila, Vanuatu and in Calbayog and Tacloban in the Philippines. Partnering with Tim and Jacque Hall (Tim Hall International Ministries), we have seen almost 11,000 decisions for Christ and have had the joy of greatly strengthening the Church for further evangelism. Hopefully, you have already read our report on the AMAZING Port Vila events. Now, we want to share about the Philippines!

In the city of Calbayog, Samar Island, our event was the first Citywide Gospel Crusade for more than 20 years. There was excellent connection with the local churches, both within the city and in the surrounding region. Up to 2,800 people per night attended the meetings. Our Miracle Haven team carried people by the truckload to the meetings every night. Joyful and sometimes tearful testimonies of beautiful miracles and lives restored to relationship with the Father, were evidence of the presence of God in every meeting. The worship team was outstanding. This was the largest evangelistic event in living memory and a glorious breakthrough for North West Samar!

Each meeting was marked by powerful worship

The Miracle Crusade in Tacloban City, Leyte Island was a breakthrough event. After a slow start, over the 5 nights almost 100 churches became involved. Church leaders were deeply impacted by Pastor Tim and Jacque Hall. The result was a fresh unity. A working together. A deep desire to see Tacloban changed by the power of God. The response to the Gospel was simply amazing. In all of my years, I have never witnessed such transformational power at work in people’s lives. Pastor Tim commented that He had rarely felt anything so powerful. It was as though the Spirit of God flowed into that huge building and poured Himself over every soul. Such forgiveness! Such love! Such transformation!

What blessed me greatly was that the churches of Tacloban and Calbayog have found a new joy and partnership together in the Gospel. They have shared an unforgettable experience together and have seen the Lord “command the blessing”, as they have come together in unity. It was like the dew on the mountains, like the anointing oil “flowing down on Aaron’s beard”… even life forevermore. (Psalm 133)

The response to the gospel was overwhelming, with approximately 6,000 decisions for Christ (in Philippines alone)

Special thanks to all who PRAYED for this season of concentrated outreach. Thanks to those “on the ground” in Port Vila, Calbayog and Tacloban, who helped us with such faithful preparations and background work. We are overflowing with gratitude to the Lord for all that He has done.

Steve
