Jon and Abi, Alyssa, Jeremy and James will be moving back to Port Vila Vanuatu on June 21. This is an 18 month assignment, allowing them to invest time into developing our local team and pave the way for future growth across our Vanuatu ministries.
For the past 5 years, Jon and Abi have been based from Australia, managing all the facets of our Vanuatu work. This has required many visits to Vanuatu each year. Through this period, they have personally overseen significant growth in our projects and have been instrumental in assisting thousands of families through our disaster relief works and community development programs. As our schools ministry continues to grow, Jon has also managed scores of visiting teams. These are a ministry in their own right, but introduce a greater ongoing need for local management.
This period has also seen our ministry undertake massive, nation-changing LifeChanger outreach events and water drilling projects. This year, Jon will also be overseeing 2 major construction projects, as we rebuild community centres in Port Vila and Tanna which were destroyed in the 2015 cyclone.
It has become clear that the next 18 months will require Jon and Abi’s full-time presence in Vanuatu to complete the community centre projects, manage the upcoming LifeChanger events and improve our schools, while continuing to equip our excellent local teams as we look to the long-term future success of the ministry.
We believe that this is God’s will for Jon and Abi and the work in Vanuatu.
